In the City

City Scape

We had a little time and CJ made one of her favorite pictures
... a night time city scape.
First draw out the buildings of varying heights and widths on a sheet of paper.
Carefully cut it out into two pieces, KEEP BOTH.
Lay a sheet of dark construction paper down and place the
"bottom" of the city on top...
we should have use painter's tape to keep it from moving...

Get out some coloured chalk... we have chalk pastels... and
a scrap of paper. Scribble, scribble to make some colored dust...

Load your finger with the dust, start on the cut out city
and brush up, up, up...

Take off the "bottom" city and cover the chalking you just did with
the "top" of the city.
This is where we really should have use the tape so it didn't slide.
Pick a second colour of chalk, make dust and this time
brush down, down, down...

Take off the "top city"... add some windows with an oil pastel...

Display your art work very proudly for all of blog world and family...

If CJ's picture didn't slip it would have turned out better... no matter.
It looks like the city is a blaze
but with different colours you can get different effects.
It will look just like the city at night...
Of course, CJ & CD are rarely up past dark so they'll just have to take my word for it!

Happy Mother's Day!!

My day started with "Berry Good Baked French Toast"

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 eggs
10 slices French bread, 1 inch thick, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 cup fresh or frozen (thawed) blueberries or Saskatoon's if you are so lucky to have them!
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Powdered sugar, if desired
Blueberry or maple syrup, if desired

1. Generously grease 2 1/2-quart casserole or rectangular baking dish, 13x9x2 inches. Beat flour, milk, sugar, vanilla, salt and eggs in large bowl with hand beater until smooth. Stir in bread cubes until coated.
2. Pour bread mixture into casserole. Top evenly with cream cheese, blueberries and nuts. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour but no longer than 24 hours.
3. Heat oven to 400°F. Uncover and bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve with syrup and powdered sugar.

The girls did a clean up and did some dusting
before CD went for a nap. CJ planned a "Home Spa" for us to enjoy. I enjoyed a bath with the bath salt she made at school. As per CJ's request Moto-Moto gave us a foot scrub and paint our toes and fingernails. We were served Green Tea Gingerale in our fancy glasses and enjoyed a little snack.

Then we packed up the van, stopped here to pick up ... not Mama burgers but UNCLE Burgers!

(Two very hungry and excited girls!!)

And drove out to Beaver Creek for the afternoon. We did some hiking and decided that for our next trip we should try to find a baby backpack for CD. It's hard hiking around with a little one who is still working on walking.

Later at home we enjoyed a yummy supper prepared by Moto-Moto of ...

Rosemary Pork Tenderloin
Dill-Honey Glazed Carrots
Spinach Salad with Avacado, Blueberries and Blackberries with Poppy Seed Dressing
French Loaf with Pesto

Yummy!! It was a great day with my family!
Thanks guys!

Dr Seuss on the Loose

These are from one of the art camp days we enjoyed last summer.
(I thought I better put something crafty on here for all you visting from Saucy's.)

We started our day by making hats and homemade waffles. The girls cut them and stacked them for Cat in the Hat Waffles.

At snack time we ate donuts Dr Seuss style. We hung them up and the girls had to eat them off the string using no hands!

What do you think Whoville looks like?

Next we made "A person's a person no matter how small" skrinky-dinks.
(Forgot to take a picture of the after.)

It was a fun day, can't wait for more crafting time!
Thanks for popping over, come back real soon!
Thanks Saucy!

My "Baby" is One and a Half !!!

Where did time go?? My darling baby is now a little girl!
CD, you have grown so much the last little while.
You are speaking 3 word sentences, you tease us and
make jokes, you can tell us what you want and need.
And you have quiet an opinion!!
You are silly, loving and kind.
You have the greatest giggle and give such warm 'big squeeze' hugs.
Thank you for completing our family!!

We love you so much!

Happy 1 1/2 Birthday!
